The Renaissance
By the end of the fourteenth century the Middle Ages had ceased and there was finally political stability and growing prosperity in Europe, giving the world a solid backbone for the first time in centuries. With new technologies and discoveries such as the printing press, a new system of astronomy, and the exploration of new worlds, humans were finally able to progress instead of regress. These conditions set fourth a movement of revival of the classical learning and values of the ancient Greeks and Romans.
